Accessibility statement

Accessibility is part of what Rosecraft sells, so this site has to hold up to the same standard. Here is what was built in, what has been tested, and what to do if you hit a barrier.

The standard

This site targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Accessibility was built into the components from the start rather than audited in at the end, which is both cheaper and more effective.

What is built in

  • A skip link to main content as the first focusable element on every page.
  • Semantic landmarks — header, navigation, main, and footer — with a logical heading order.
  • Full keyboard operation. Every page has been reviewed without a mouse.
  • A visible focus indicator on every interactive element, using a high contrast outline that changes colour on dark surfaces so it never disappears.
  • Text contrast of at least 4.5:1 for body copy. Signal Mustard is deliberately restricted to dark backgrounds, where it reaches 7.1:1, and is never used for small text on light fields.
  • Status is never carried by colour alone. The current page, pressed filters, form errors, and draft case studies are all marked with text or shape as well.
  • Form labels sit above every field, help and error text is connected with aria-describedby, errors are summarised at the top of the form and linked to the field, and what you typed is preserved.
  • Descriptive link and button text. No bare “click here”.
  • Meaningful images have descriptive alternative text. Decorative texture is marked as decorative and hidden from assistive technology.
  • Motion is limited to short entry transitions and state changes, and all of it is disabled when your system asks for reduced motion. There is no scroll hijacking, no custom cursor, no autoplaying media, and no content hidden behind hover.
  • Interactive targets are at least 44 by 44 CSS pixels on touch devices.
  • Page content reflows to 320 pixels wide without horizontal scrolling.

Spam prevention without a barrier

The inquiry form uses a hidden field and a timing check to filter automated submissions. It does not use a CAPTCHA, because visual puzzles block exactly the people this statement is meant to protect.

How this was tested

  • Keyboard-only review of every route, including the mobile navigation and the form.
  • Contrast ratios calculated for every colour pairing in the design system.
  • Layout checked from 320 pixels wide up to wide desktop.
  • Reduced motion preference verified.
  • Automated checks for heading order, landmarks, alt text, and link text.

Known limitations

  • This site has not yet been tested with every combination of screen reader and browser. Testing with JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver against real user tasks is planned.
  • It has not been reviewed by people with disabilities outside of Rosecraft. Automated and expert testing catch a lot; they do not replace that.
