00About Rosecraft Designs
Small businesses deserve serious systemswithout the agency theater.
Most owners have been sold a website before. Sometimes it was a template with a stranger’s photos in it. Sometimes it was a strategy document that nobody ever built. Either way the business ended up paying for something it could not maintain and could not explain.
Rosecraft exists because the thinking and the building should not be two different purchases. You get one person responsible for the direction and the result — and a system you can actually run afterwards.

01Where this comes from
Craft means making something sturdy enough to be useful.
Rosecraft Designs was shaped in the Appalachian foothills, where craft means understanding your materials, helping your neighbors, and making something sturdy enough to be useful. I grew up around rivers, stories, practical problem solving, and people who could spot empty talk from a mile away.
My path into this work was not straight. I have guided whitewater trips, taught technology, supported customers through difficult problems, built marketing systems, developed websites, shaped brands, and translated complicated ideas for organizations that needed people to understand and act. I also know what it means to rebuild with limited resources and keep moving when the path is uncertain.
That history is why Rosecraft starts with clarity. Small business owners do not need more noise, more software, or another vendor hiding behind jargon. They need a partner who can understand the business, identify the real constraint, build the right system, and explain how it works.
I bring psychology, storytelling, design, technology, and operational thinking into the same room. The result is work that looks distinctive, makes sense to real people, and remains useful after launch.
Rosecraft is founder led by design. You work with the person responsible for the strategy and quality. As the studio grows, specialists may support production, but the thinking, standards, and relationship remain personal.

02The combination
Six backgrounds pointed at one problem.
The range is not a résumé flex. Each of these shows up in how a Rosecraft project actually runs.
Appalachian roots
The language of craft, resilience, community, and practical usefulness.
Whitewater guiding
Calm decision making, preparation, reading conditions, and guiding people through uncertainty.
Psychology
Audience empathy, behavior, communication, and customer journey thinking.
Worldbuilding and game design
Systems thinking, narrative structure, and making complex worlds understandable.
Technology teaching and customer support
Explaining hard things to people who need to act, not to be impressed.
Marketing operations
CRM structure, campaign mechanics, and the unglamorous plumbing that decides whether growth holds.
03Values
Six words, and what each one costs.
Values are only worth stating if they change a decision. Here is what each one means in practice.
- 01Clarity
- Explain the real problem before proposing a tool. Make decisions understandable.
- 02Craft
- Use repeatable systems without making the work feel generic.
- 03Humanity
- Design for real people, real constraints, and long term trust.
- 04Responsibility
- Use AI and data with review, consent, transparency, and restraint.
- 05Usefulness
- Every page, message, and workflow must serve a business or user need.
- 06Courage
- Name weak assumptions, hidden risks, and uncomfortable trade offs before they become expensive.
04What working together feels like
You should always know where the project is.
Most of the anxiety in a creative project comes from not knowing what happens next or whether your feedback landed. This is the sequence, and it does not change.
01First conversation
Jon asks calm, specific questions and identifies the business problem beneath the requested deliverable.
02Strategy
The client can see the logic, constraints, priorities, and definition of done.
03Creation
The client is involved at clear decision points without being forced to manage the production.
04Feedback
Rosecraft explains why a choice works, listens to context, and distinguishes preference from risk.
05Launch
The client receives a working system, documentation, and a clear next step.
06Ongoing support
The relationship is responsive and bounded. The client is supported without creating dependency.
05The founder led model
Who actually does the work.
Discovery, strategy, creative direction, final quality, and the client relationship stay with Jon. That is the part you are buying and it is not delegated.
As the studio grows, specialists may support production — routine implementation, content entry, quality checks, documented maintenance. That only happens after the process is written down well enough to review objectively, and it never moves the strategic decisions away from the person accountable for them.
If you are hiring Rosecraft because of how the first conversation went, you should get that same person for the whole project. That is the entire point of a founder led studio.
06Modern systems. Human judgment.
Use AI where it saves time. Keep people where judgment matters.
AI can organize information, reduce repetition, improve response, and help a small team do more. It can also produce confident mistakes, flatten a real voice, and create new risk when nobody is reviewing the output. Rosecraft uses AI where it is useful, documents how it works, and keeps people in control of the decisions that matter.
Where Rosecraft uses AI
- Reduce repetition
- Organize information
- Explore options
- Support accessibility
- Accelerate production
What stays under human control
- Client context
- Human ideas
- Ethical judgment
- Final review
What it is never used for
- Fabricating proof, metrics, or testimonials
- Impersonating a real person
- Avoiding the relationship required to understand a business
This site is itself an example. AI assisted the production of this build. The strategy, the client facts, the case study judgments, and every claim on these pages were written and checked by a person — which is why there are no invented metrics or testimonials anywhere on the site.
07Start a conversation
Tell me what is changing.
The first conversation is not a pitch. It is a set of specific questions designed to find the business problem underneath the deliverable you think you need. Sometimes the answer is that Rosecraft is not the right fit, and you will hear that directly.
